Instructions

  • Use a paper towel to firmly press down on the tofu to expel all of the liquid, ensuring it is entirely dry. Afterward, cut the tofu into cubes.
  • In a bowl, combine salt, black pepper, soy sauce, and tofu and mix until fully incorporated.
  • Heat oil in a non-stick pan, and then add the tofu cubes. Fry the cubes until both sides are crisp. Transfer them to a plate lined with a paper towel to absorb any excess oil, and then set them aside.
  • Heat the remaining oil in the wok, and swirl to coat the wok with oil.
  • After adding ginger, garlic, red chili, celery stalk, and onion, quickly stir-fry them for 10 to 20 seconds to extract the pungent and fragrant scents of the herbs.
  • Following that, gradually introduce the vegetables into the skillet and stir-fry over a high flame. Cook for 5-7 minutes, continuously mixing the skillet's contents. When the vegetables acquire a glossy texture and become tender to the touch, add the sauces and the stock, stirring the ingredients until everything is fully combined.
  • After adding the crispy tofu cubes, blend them into the mixture. Simmer the stir-fry for a duration of 3 to 5 minutes or until the sauce has thickened. Once the vegetables are cooked to your desired tenderness, take the skillet off the heat.

FAQs on TOFU STIR FRY Recipe

How to fry tofu without sticking?

To ensure a non-stick experience, use a non-stick pan when cooking. Otherwise, if you're using a wok, skillet, or regular pan, be sure to heat it for 1-2 minutes before adding oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Moreover, it is paramount to wait for the tofu cubes to un-stick from the pan. As the cubes cook and brown, they will inevitably come away from the pan.

Which tofu is best for stir-frying?

Extra-Firm tofu is the driest option, making it an ideal choice for stir-fries. However, many opt for firm tofu as it is neither as delicate as silken or soft tofu nor as dry as extra-firm. It has the right amount of moisture while remaining structurally intact.

What is the ideal cooking time for frying tofu and broccoli?

When the oil is hot, add the tofu and broccoli to the pan. Be sure to space the pieces out, so they do not touch; otherwise, they will stick together. Fry for three minutes, or until golden brown and crispy on one side.

What cooking technique yields the most beneficial results with tofu?

For the healthiest way of cooking tofu, look no further than a steamer. Not only is it oil-free and sodium-free, but it's also an easy way to preserve the texture. Place a parchment paper or a cabbage leaf at the bottom of the steamer basket.

What is the taste of tofu?

Plain tofu has no particular taste and it is quite bland. All types of tofu have different textures.
