Simple and Easy Butter Chicken Recipe

What is Butter Chicken?

It is smooth buttery gravy made with tomatoes, butter, and grilled chicken. It was first made by Kundan Lal Gujral, the owner of Moti Mahal restaurant in Delhi.

How Butter Chicken is made?

A mouth-watering butter chicken recipe is made by marinating the chicken deep frying it in oil and making rich buttery gravy of tomato – cashew and cream. And lastly, add the deep-fried chicken into the gravy.

Spices used in Butter Chicken:

Ginger-garlic paste – Ginger garlic paste provides it a very nice taste. It was made traditionally at home by grating or grinding ginger – garlic.

Kasoori Methi (Fenugreek Leaves) – the dry fenugreek leaves plays an important role to provide the recipe an earthly flavor and takes the recipe to a different level.

Cashew Paste – This paste can make any gravy more creamy and tasty. Cashews play a very important role in Indian cooking. Indian butter chicken is incomplete without this ingredient.

Ingredients

  • 200 grams cubed chicken
  • 3 cup water
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1/3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp heavy whipping cream.

Instruction for cooking –

  1. Start the cooking by marinating the chicken first. It is the most important step to make your chicken gravy tastier. Take a large bowl and add the chicken pieces into it, add ½ tsp salt, ginger-garlic paste, and mix it well using your hands. Cover it using plastic wrap and freeze it for 15-20 minutes.
  2. No need to prepare the extra ingredients like cashews, onions, fenugreek leaves, and a lot more if you are using the MED Butter Chicken spice container. Because you will already get all those ingredients in the jar.
  3. Let's start cooking by deep frying the chicken in hot oil for 2-3 minutes. Or you can drizzle a few drops of oil if you are grilling the chicken.
  4. Once it is cooked enough keep them in a separate bowl.

  6. Take a pan and put it on medium flame. Melt 1/3 tbsp butter in it and add the spicy gravy into it.
  7. Keep stirring until it thickens.
  8. Drop the chicken in the gravy and drizzle cream on it.
  9. Let it simmer for 3 minutes.
  10. Serve hot with roti or naan.

You can freeze it in an air-tight container and enjoy this super creamy and spicy taste for one week.
