CHICKEN CURRY RECIPE

Chicken Gravy was first prepared in the Indian subcontinent. It dates back to roughly 8000 years in India. "Chicken Curry" or "Chicken Gravy" is globally loved in the Caribbean, Great Britain, and Southeast Asia.

Indians love cooking chicken gravy for significant occasions, celebrations, and even at home. Many non-Indians have also tried this delectable dish. The non-Indians are fans of the flavor and the spices used to prepare it. The chicken gravy recipe includes garam masala and other ingredients used in chicken curry.

American-style chicken curry uses tomatoes. As fresh tomatoes aren't available in the winter on the east coast of the United States, tomato paste is used as a substitute. Although not required, the marinade helps to intensify the flavor. You can spice up the chicken curry game to your personal preference.

Let's prepare the Indian Chicken Gravy with an American twist. This recipe is an American adaptation of Indian chicken gravy/curry. You can serve it with rice.

Ingredients to Marinade Chicken

What would you need for Chicken Curry?

Instructions to Marinade Chicken

  • Rinse chicken pieces with water and place them in a strainer to drain water.
  • Place the chicken pieces on a plate. Using a sharp knife, cut the incisions on the portions. This aids the dressing in going all the way inside the chicken.
  • Add yogurt, minced ginger - garlic, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, kasoori methi, and melted butter in a large bowl. Mix them together and make a smooth paste.
  • Add chicken pieces to the marinade.
  • Pour some marinade into the cuts and mix the chicken well in the marinade.
  • Place it in the marinade bowl at a low temperature for at least 8 to 10 hours. Cover the bowl. The longer the meat is left in the marinade, the better; yogurt acts as a tenderizer. You can also marinate longer if you have time to cook the chicken.
  • Thirty minutes before you are ready to cook, take the marinated chicken out of the fridge. Let it come to room temperature.
  • Deep Fry, Shallow Fry, Roast, Microwave, or Skew those pieces to cook in Tandoor or Oven.

Marinated Chicken Pieces are ready.
