Four different types of Indian Gravy are commonly used to prepare many dishes and curries nationwide. However, some regional curries are specific only to some areas of India.
The four main gravies used in Indian cooking are White Gravy, Hariyali Gravy, Makhni Gravy, and Brown Onion Gravy.
- White Gravy - This Gravy is white to blonde in color. The base of this Gravy is boiled onion paste and nut pastes thicken the sauce.
- Hariyali Gravy - Hariyali means green in Hindi and hence the name.
- Makhni Gravy - Makhni Gravy is a type of Gravy from North India; it's trendy. Makhni Gravy is paired with light-flavored foods such as chicken, fish, and cottage cheese.
- Onion Tomato Gravy - Onion Tomato Gravy It is also known as tomato gravy.
