LOW-CALORIE CHICKEN KORMA FOR DINNER

There is a burst of flavors as soon as you hear the word "Indian curries."

But, have you heard of the King of Indian Curries?

Korma is derived etymologically from the Turkish 'qavirma,' meaning 'braise,' referring to the cooking technique used in the dish. Korma has its beginning in the Mughlai cuisine of the Indian subcontinent.

Stories tell that Korma was served to the emperor Shah Jahan and his guest at the inauguration of the Taj Mahal.

The cooking technique covers many different styles of Korma. The korma flavors depend on various spices, including cumin and ground coriander, combined with Yogurt kept below curdling temperature and immersed slowly and carefully with the meat juices.

Usually, the gravy in Korma is very mild. However, many states in India make very spicy Korma. The North Indian Korma is distinct from the South Indian Kurma. Both are delicious, though.

  • Cook for 2-3 minutes after adding the curry paste. Bring 400ml of water to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and cook, uncovered, for 10-12 minutes or until the liquid has reduced by half.
